Now it can happen, because Hilton has opened the first underwater restaurant in the world with the name of Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa or more popularly known as ‘Ithaa’ which in the local language, Maladiv, means ‘pearl’.
With a size of 5 x 9 feet, this restaurant offers the sensation of having lunch with is 5 meters below the surface of the Indian Ocean, and coated by flexiglas. Travel to the location starts with a down spiral staircase down.
‘Ithaa’ views offer a refreshing and Maldivian cuisine with a blend of local cuisine and western dishes, plus lunch at a place that is very light so that visitors have to wear sunglasses.
The restaurant is designed and built by M.J. Murphy Ltd in 2007 spent $ 5 million, and is part of a rebuilding project Rangalifinolhu Island. ‘Ithaa’ projected to be a leading tourist site of the Republic of Maldives as one of the small former British colony located in southern India.
Currently, the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa or ‘Ithaa’ is celebrating her birthday, and offers the opportunity not only to eat but also to spend the night under the sea. 12-seat restaurant will be transformed into a private bedroom for two, complete with dinner and breakfast in bed.
The price is on offer for lunch range from U.S. $ 120.00 (Full Board) and U.S. $ 250.00 for dinner (bed and breakfast). ‘Ithaa’ seems suitable as a honeymoon for newly married couples, because this place is so beautiful and romantic.
